To ensure the longevity and safety of your handmade candles, please follow these care instructions:
First burn: allow your candle to burn long enough for the melted wax to reach the edges of the container on the first burn. This helps prevent "tunneling," where the candle burns down the center, wasting wax on the sides.
Trim the wick: before each use, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm). This helps prevent excessive smoke, soot, and uneven burning. Use a wick trimmer or small scissors for best results.
Burning time: allow the wax to cool completely before relighting to maintain an even burn and extend the candle's life.
Safety First:
- Always burn candles within sight and never leave them unattended.
- Keep candles away from flammable objects, drafts, children, and pets.
- Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface to avoid any risk of fire or heat damage. Pillar candles candles should be burned on a fireproof surface with sides to catch the melted wax.
Extinguishing the candle: use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame instead of blowing it out, which helps prevent hot wax from splattering and reduces smoke.
Storage: store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent discoloration and fading. Avoid placing candles in high temperatures, as they may soften or melt.
Avoid moving hot candles: do not move a candle while it is lit or when the wax is still liquid. Allow it to cool and solidify before handling.
By following these care instructions, you can enjoy a safe and long-lasting experience with your handmade candles.
